Se poate folosi la alimentarea aparatelor de 110V de la reteaua de 220V, care nu depasesc puterea de 150W in regim continuu (sarcina rezistiva), aparate construite pentru reteaua de curent din Statele Unite ale Americii, Japonia, Australia, etc. De exemplu: dușuri bucale, masini de tuns, dispozitive medicale, incarcatoare acumulatori, aparate cosmetice etc.
Cum alegem un convertor de tensiune potrivit ?
Cel mai important parametru este puterea electrică consumata a dispozitivului, care este data în manual sau direct pe aparat. Cifrele scrise pe cutie sunt de foarte multe ori exagerate, in cele mai multe cazuri consumul real este mai mare decat cel din manual.
Un exemplu de calcul: în cazul în care pe eticheta scrie: " 12A 110V " puterea de intrare necesară este 110 x 12 = 1320W . Este recomandabil sa alegeți un convertor de tensiune cu o rezervă de putere suficientă pentru a preveni supraîncălzirea excesivă a aparatului si acoperitoare necesarului de putere la pornire (cand consumul este maxim). Alege un convertor de tensiune cu puterea de 1,5 ori mai mare decât valoarea calculată . În cazul nostru ar trebui să alegeți un convertor de curent de 2000W. Pentru dispozitive audio ( amplificatoare de chitara , etc ) alegeți puterea de 2 ori mai mare decât consumul de curent al dispozitivului pentru a evita denaturari nedorite la performanțe de vârf.
